What is gelato?

Although the name literally translates to “ice cream,” there is a common misconception of the difference between gelato and American ice cream. Both are considered frozen treats are go-tos during hot months, yet they are not identical.

The main three differences are the texture or consistency, the flavor intensity and the serving temperature.

What is sorbet?

Sorbetto, or Sorbet, is a dairy-free gelato that is water based and generally consists of fruit flavors only (chocolate sorbet is one exception). A water base enables the fruit to shine through. Our sorbet is made with real fruit and doesn’t contain any artificial color or flavoring!

 

Gelato

  • 0-9% Butterfat Content
  • 20-30% Air
  • Served between 5-15 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Made fresh everyday
  • Displayed beautifullu in a showcase with garnishes
  • Scooped with a Spatula/Spade

American Ice Cream

  • 14-25% (must be over 10%)
  • 50-100% Air
  • Served at a temperature of 4 degrees Fahrenheit or colder
  • Made according to demanda head of time and stored until needed
  • Generally hidden from view or displayed in storage containers as is
  • Scooped with an Ice Cream Scooper
